Community Engagement

You'll find our members and attenders working for social justice, improving lives, and offering care in San Luis Obispo County and beyond.  Below are some of the organizations our members work with.

  • Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) -- AVP offers all-volunteer, team-facilitated experiential workshops in nonviolent conflict resolution and communication skill both to those incarcerated and to the community.

  • Friends of 40 Prado -- Our volunteers prepare and serves dinner on the 3rd Sunday of odd-number months at 40 Prado, a shelter for our unhoused neighbors. To help with a meal, contact us.

  • SLO Overdose Awareness Day -- SLO Overdose Awareness Day is a free event held each year on (or near) August 31st in San Luis Obispo. This annual event for learning and remembrance includes a resource fair, free naloxone (brand name Narcan), and a candle-lighting ceremony to help end overdose in our community.

  • People of Faith for Justice  -- An interfaith alliance in San Luis Obispo County promoting peace and justice for all.

  • Friends Committee for Legislation California (FCLCA) -- A nonpartisan, statewide public interest lobby founded by Quakers. Advocates and lobbies for state laws and a state budget that are just, compassionate and respectful of the inherent worth of every person.

  • Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) A national, nonpartisan Quaker organization that lobbies Congress for peace, justice and environmental stewardship.
